Status Downloader ("the app") is a WhatsApp status saving app for Android. This policy explains what the app accesses on your device and, just as importantly, what it does not do.
READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Android 12 and below only — reads WhatsApp's status folder directly, and lets the app browse its own saved album. |
READ_MEDIA_IMAGES / READ_MEDIA_VIDEO | Android 13 and above only — lets the app show what you've already saved in its own gallery album. Requested only when you open the Saved tab, not at first launch. |
WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE | Android 9 and below only — saves a status to your gallery. |
On Android 10 and above, WhatsApp's status folder itself is accessed through a one-time Storage Access Framework picker grant, not a blanket storage permission.
Saved statuses live in your device's own gallery, under your control at all times. Deleting a saved status from your Photos app (or from the app's own delete option) removes it completely — the app keeps no separate copy or record anywhere.
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, regardless of age, because it does not collect information at all.
If this policy changes — for example, when a future update adds an optional feature that touches new data — this page will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will change.
Questions about this policy can be sent to the developer contact address listed on the app's Play Store listing.
